Cricut mats are made from rubber meaning they are tacky. It will probably suffer from material build up and its adhesive quality will start to disappear over time. Cricut cutting mats are supposed to work perfectly for a few dozen projects but there s no need to throw them away when they start to lose their stickiness. Then they will lose their sticky nature over time.

I love how the cricut machine cuts card stock into great shapes but it s hard to peel card stock from the cricut explore mat when it s too sticky. Proper cleaning and caring for your cricut mats can remove these issues. That is exactly what i didn t want to happen. Some users have tried using watered down glue which didn t make their mats sticky enough.

However don t give up on them just yet. The problem of the mats losing their tackiness after some time and with a lot of utilization your cricut slicing mat will begin to lose some of its stickiness. When my cricut mat is too sticky the card stock comes off but leaves all the pieces you just cut out and stuck to the mat. But over time and with plenty of use your cricut cutting mat will start to lose some of its stickiness.

Run lukewarm water over the mat then use a plastic hard bristled brush to gently scrub in a circular motion until the entire surface of the mat is clean. Paper fiber and dust can cause your mats to lose their stickiness after just a few cuts. Ideally mats are only to be utilized for a couple of times before they become non sticky and inaccurate surfaces that can destroy a potentially ideal craft. You can always clean your cricut cutting mat so that they are restored to their former state.

Place the mat in the sink. It will presumably experience the loss of material and its cement quality will begin to vanish once again. The stronger the grip the heavier the material like chipboard or thick card stock you can cut and the lighter the grip the thin or lightweight materials like regular paper and vinyl you can cut. Now you have 3 options.

Cricut mats can get dull dirty and lose their stickiness over time. Ideally these sticky mats are only to be used for a few dozen times before they become inaccurate non sticky surfaces that can ruin a potentially perfect craft but don t throw them away just yet. Cutting mats are essential when you re cutting non backed material without a release liner. I clean mine at the end of every day but then i use them for 50 cuts or so every day.
